Jennifer Allen speaking on The Guardian Jobs TV Train to Gain. Quercus Eight (Formally The Hardy Group) launched the Train to Gain Scheme in June 2006. The organisation had a visit from former Prime Minster Gordon Brown.

Train to Gain is a government-funded initiative for employees to get new skills that will help them succeed at work. Training can include leadership and management training qualifications up to level 3. Depending on the options chosen it may involve some college-based study as well as work-based training.

Financial support is available to alleviate the effects of staff taking time off to train. Businesses in England with fewer than 50 employees can also receive a financial contribution to wage costs for training.

Jennifer Allen completed a CIM Marketing qualification through Train to Gain. There is little doubt among staff and management that this investment in training and focus on skills has improved performance and teamwork.

Jennifer was asked to appear on The Guardian Jobs TV to answer questions about her experience of Train to Gain and how she felt it has benefited her and Quercus Eight.
