Environmental Commitment

Facts and figures

Sustainability is an increasingly important issue for our clients, which is why our print suppliers work to internationally recognised standards in sourcing paper supplies and in their operational and environmental management activities:

FSC accreditation

FSC Logo

100% of publications produced for our clients are printed on either FSC accredited paper or recycled paper.

FSC (Forest Stewardship Council) is a global certification body offering independent third party verification of forest management and timber products.

PEFC accreditation

We are pleased to report that one of the firms in our printer supply chain has gained both FSC and PEFC certification.

The PEFC Council (Programme for the Endorsement of Forest Certification schemes) promotes sustainably managed forests through independent third party certification.

It provides an assurance mechanism to purchasers of wood and paper products that they are promoting the sustainable management of forests.

ISO 14001/ISO 9001

ISO 14001/9001

ISO 14001 is an internationally accepted standard for putting in place an effective Environmental Management System (EMS), addressing the need to balance maintaining profitability against reducing environmental impact.

ISO 9001 is a world-leading quality framework used by hundreds of thousands of organisations around the world as a benchmark for their quality management systems.

Trees of Life

OUR SUPPLIERS continue to limit their impact on the environment through the planting of trees with Trees for Life – a charity committed to restoring the Caledon- ian Forest in the Scottish Highlands.
They aim to plant 1,000 trees over five years on behalf of their customers.

The principle of the charity’s work – and their support of sustainable woodlands and the protection of the creatures therein – complements the Quercus Eight (and its supply chain’s) commitment to reducing the impact of the printing process on the environment.

Trees for life is a pioneering ecological restoration charity. It’s primary aim is to restore the Caledonian Forest to an area of 1,500 square kilometres in the Highlands, west of Inverness.

Today, only one percent of that original Caledonian Forest remains. Moved by this tragic plight, the charity began work in 1989 to help it regenerate and expand again.

Initially concentrating in Glen Affric, the largest area of least-disturbed forest in Scotland, they now work throughout a region of 2,370 square kilometres in the north-central Highlands.

Within this area they envision restoring a natural, wild forest and in the longer term advocate the return of missing wildlife species, as they are essential parts of the forest ecosystem. Keep up the good work, we say!
